residents and businesses turned out in force to
overwhelmingly voice their opposition to Safeway
plans to build a mega-gas station at their Crown
Hill location. Speaker after speaker urged Seattle
Department of Planning and Development to rule

A meeting of the Loyal Heights Community
Council took place on Tuesday  evening, July 18,
at the Loyal Heights Community Center. An
enthusiastic crowd of over 30 citizens met for
lively discussions of several topics. The meeting
included informative presentations by Neil
Hansen and Lt. Dick Reed from the Seattle Police
Department, who spoke about neighborhood
crime prevention. Other issues to discussed
were:

November 8, 2006 Meeting Smashing Success
The Loyal Heights Community Council met on Wednesday, November 8, with a good
turnout, a great speaker, and excellent snacks. Discussion ranged from land use and
zoning, upcoming efforts within the city to limit single-family residence housing
footprints, to the ongoing effort to stop the Safeway mega-gas station at 85th and 15th
Ave NW. The continuing effort to improve the Loyal Heights Playfield project was also
discussed, and new officers were selected.  Minutes from the meeting will be posted

DPD Ignores Neighbors, Sides with
Safeway in Gas Station Flap
On 2-26-07, the Seattle Department of Planning
and Development issued an environmental
"Determination of Non-significance", paving the
way for Safeway to build a mega-gas station at
their Crown Hill locale. The fight goes on to stop
